The Quarterly Gazette walked into The Law Society asking them to give us a rundown of a typical P7 in Law and here’s what we got

A typical P7 in Gordon’s School Law Society is always interactive and engaging. We usually begin by exploring a current legal case or issue in the news, where members analyse the facts and debate both sides of the argument. This helps us develop our critical thinking, public speaking and advocacy skills while gaining a deeper understanding of how the law works in practice.

One of our most memorable activities has been our mock trials, where members take on the roles of barristers, witnesses and judges to recreate real legal proceedings. These sessions are always popular because they give us a hands-on insight into the legal profession and allow us to experience the excitement of courtroom advocacy.

Law Society is much more than just learning about legal principles. It provides a welcoming environment where students can discuss current affairs, develop confidence in presenting arguments and learn how the legal system affects everyday life. We believe more students should join because it is both informative and enjoyable, while also providing valuable skills that are useful for careers in law and many other professions.

Our society supports members who are interested in law-related careers by helping them build foundational legal knowledge, research skills, analytical thinking and effective communication. Looking ahead, we are particularly excited about upcoming debates, mock trials and discussions on high-profile legal cases, which continue to make Law Society one of the most engaging societies at Gordon’s School.
