The Twelve Books of Christmas Library competition was an excellent way to celebrate the start of the National Year of Reading 2026. Entrants had to borrow a book from the school library and read as many of the twelve prompts as they could over a six week period.

Students could compete to be victorious in three categories:

  1. Winner of the prize draw.
  2. Individual with the most entries.
  3. House with the most entries.

The hotly contested individual prize between Elijah and Grayson from Khartoum ended in a tie with both boys walking away with a £10 voucher to spend at Starbucks.

Chesa from Woolwich was the winner of the prize draw making her next outing to the shops a joyous one as she can spend £10 in Waterstones to buy a book of her choosing plus a £10 voucher to enjoy in Starbucks.

As always, competition between the Houses was fierce with China securing third place and Khartoum snapping at the heels of the winning House – Victoria!

Participating students were invited to the library for a Prize Giving Reception where they were treated with hot chocolate and doughnuts.

Well done to all the students who entered. May the rest of 2026 present many opportunities to read for pleasure!
