1. Tell us about your area of interest or specialisation.

I am passionate about eco-projects like OneOcean and G-Eco, roller hockey, acrobatic gymnastic and music (drumming, singing, playing in the Under the Arches band and practising in the Pipes & Drums developmental band). I also enjoy activities like LAMDA as it helps with my presentation skills. I have a passion for languages.

2. When and how did you first get interested in your activities?

Was there a particular moment or person that inspired you?

I enrolled in P8 One Ocean the first term of Y7, then in the second term of Y7 One Ocean “transferred” to G-Eco. This focused my environmental concerns onto more aquatic problems.

I discovered roller hockey a couple of years ago when I tried it at Farnham Roller Hockey Club and immediately loved the speed and teamwork.

Acrobatic gymnastic is a passion since I was 6 years old and I even went to watch Le Cirque Du Soleil performing at the Royal Albert Hall.

For music, I started drum lessons before joining Gordon’s because I have a drum kit at home. In Y7 I was invited to join the Boys’ Choir and the training programme for the school band.

3. What have you achieved so far in this area?

  • OneOcean, G-Eco: Winner of the presentation for One Ocean, Eco-Schools Green Flag, Team of the week, and currently I am helping Miss Bedding with assessing the school’s recycling practices.
  • I joined the Gordon’s Boys’ Choir and sang at the Christmas Carols, South Hill Park Arts Centre and Gordon’s summer performances. Also, I was invited to train with the school band for the Pipes and Drums and Under the Arches band playing the base drum.
  • I have improved my confidence about public speaking through LAMDA lessons.
  • I represented my roller hockey club at regional tournaments and I was also selected as a reserve for the national matches.

4. At what levels have you participated (school, county, national, international)?

  • School: Choir performances, band training, LAMDA lessons, G-Eco /Ocean projects. Spelling Bee competition winner and national entry in Spanish Poésíæ.
  • Club level: Regular roller hockey training, regional tournaments, and acrobatic gymnastic Level silver.
  • Regional: Attended roller hockey training camps in Cambridge and Herne Bay and played inter-regional tournaments.
  • International: I have been invited to attend the roller hockey development camp (5 days) in February 2026 in Portugal.

5. What challenges have you faced in pursuing this interest, and how did you overcome them?

G-Eco: Clearing the area outside Food Tech, planting all sorts of wildflowers, vegetables, fruits and saplings.

Managing the time to do gymnastics, roller hockey training, band, singing practice, studying and completing homework is challenging, but I handle it well.

I have ADHD and dyslexia, which makes organisation and time management more difficult for me. I sometimes forget things or get anxious before activities. To manage this, I tend to carry everything that I need during my school day in my backpack. I set reminders and write checklists for most tasks, and I have a quiet room and extra time for tests. Also, I am not afraid to ask for help from my mum and teachers to plan my day and stay calm.

6. Who has supported or inspired you the most on this journey?

Miss Bedding, for G-Eco

Mr Stanworth, Mrs Brazendale, Mr Wheeler and Mrs Scotson for choir and big base drum and snare: they are all so passionate about music.

My coach, Isaac, and the Roller Hockey England director, Carlos.

My gymnastics coach, Kate Potts.

My mum – she always encourages me; helps me get to training and lessons; making checklist to not forget things and reminds me to keep trying even when things feel hard.

Mrs Quinlan, for her encouragement in Spanish.

My teachers, Mrs Kelly and my house parents, who support me at school.

7. What do you enjoy the most about your activities?

G-Eco: it keeps me in contact with nature and all the world around us.

Roller hockey: I love the speed, working as a team, and scoring goals feels amazing!

Gymnastics: I especially like the trampolines, back and front flips. I like the feeling of jumping in the air.

In music and singing, I enjoy following the rhythms. I find it relaxing and it brings me peace.

8. How do you manage your time between academics and your co-curricular interests?

I do most of my homework at home. I like prep at school on Friday because it is quieter. This helps me to be more focused.

I make checklists and set reminders on my watch, and I try to pack my school bag and organise my kit the night before so I don’t get stressed in the morning. Furthermore, I do homework whenever I can, even in the car on my way to training and weekends.

9. What are your future goals related to these interests?

To be the next David Attenborough and become more involved in saving our planet!

I would like to keep improving at roller hockey and play in more important matches.

For music, I want to progress in drumming and perhaps perform in concerts with the school band. I would also like to take my LAMDA exams, and I would like to join the SFS.

10. What advice would you give to other students who want to explore this field?

To always keep going even when it feels hard because we are making a difference.

Give everything a try because you might discover a passion.

Don’t be afraid to make mistakes and ask for help.

11. Share some memorable experiences related to your activities.

Getting our Eco School Green flag, and achieving the One Ocean award for my PowerPoint presentation.

When my Roller Hockey team played at an important match at Herne Bay. I was anxious at first, but I felt so proud when I played well.

Achieving a merit in the Drum level 1 exam and a distinction in my Grade 1 public speaking exam.

At school, being chosen to join the band training programme and the Boys’ Choir.

At gymnastics, being nominated as Best Gymnast of the Month for most improvement.

12. Is there anything else you’d like us to know about your journey?

Since I was young, I have always been passionate and loved nature. I am curious about everything and love learning new skills. Even when things are hard, I keep trying because I want to do my best. I am grateful for all the teachers, coaches, friends and my mum who helps me.
