Author Visit By Chloe Y8
On Friday 28th November, pupils from years 7 and 8 were given an amazing opportunity to have a visit and hear from, Steve Cole, who is the author of over 200 books.
Before the talk, some students from each English class, had a chance to participate in a workshop with Steve Cole.
Lucia had this to say about the workshop:
“I enjoyed the energetic workshop where we got to create our story openings. It has given me lots of ideas and inspiration for my own stories.”
The talk started with Steve explaining how, when he was younger, he never expected to become an author and how he did not even know that a writer was a job you could have. Steve told us some of the books that he enjoyed reading when he was younger. These included: Charlie Brown and Snoopy, Spiderman Comics and Doctor Who. He even wrote his own versions of Doctor Who books because he loved them so much!
He spoke about some of the books that he had written, including Astrosaurus, Doctor Who and Young Bond.
He focussed on the Young Bond series and explained what his book was about – James Bond before he became a super detective based in the 1930s.
Steve Cole then went on to show us the different pieces of equipment a spy would use in the 1930s, including guns disguised as lipsticks and pipes. The talk was interesting and enjoyable for everyone. I would recommend reading the Young Bond series if you are interested in mysteries and crime.
