24-Hour Musical

The famous 24-Hour Musical is back – and this year’s production was nothing short of extraordinary. Marked with energy, creativity, and sheer determination, the event once again proved the magic that can happen when talent and teamwork collide under pressure.

The team started bright and early at 9am on Saturday morning where they found out the musical they would be doing: Madagascar. With less than a day to learn lines, perfect choreography, and pull together costumes, the challenge was immense. Auditions took place on the spot and choreography and blocking was all done scene by scene. What came from this was a spectacular show as per usual. Yes, there were a few off-key notes and a couple of fluffed lines, but these tiny slips were drowned out by the sheer joy and infectious energy radiating from the stage.

As soon as the show started and the opening pose was struck, the audience were in for an rollercoaster of chaos, comedy and fun. The main cast consisted of Naima Ben-Gashir, Susie Early, Owen Knight and Adekunbi Adebiyi playing Alex, Marty, Melman and Gloria The vibrant costumes and iconic face paint helped transform the cast into a group of animals that audiences couldn’t help but fall in love with. One of the highlights was when Hamish Conduit came out as King Julien and the whole audience screamed and cheered so much that the music was drowned out.

From start to finish, Madagascar was a triumph of creativity under pressure. The 24-Hour Musical once again showcased the incredible talent within the drama department, both on stage and behind the scenes. It was a performance that left audiences amazed, entertained, and already looking forward to next year’s whirlwind production.
