Over the weekend our senior actors performed a musical with only 24-hours to learn it!
This year it was ‘The Little Mermaid’. Whoever works on the show from the moment they arrive on Saturday, does not know if they will ultimately be chosen to perform until the morning of the rehearsal, which builds up great suspense!
On the Saturday they had twelve hours. Within that very tight time frame, they needed to figure out roles; begin blocking and even attempt to learn songs they might have never heard before!
This was a challenge, to say the least, however, everyone who showed up were incredibly dedicated. Then, on Sunday, they had only another short twelve hours to get the show ready. The time was used to polish scenes and make sure everyone knew what they were doing to the best of their abilities.
On Sunday evening the show was performed in the Wynterbee Theatre. Everyone who watched it was thoroughly entertained, even though they did not even know what show they were going to see.
The Quarterly Gazette wish to congratulate all the actors. And Mr Olden who put a great 24-hour musical on stage. We cannot wait to see what musical will be chosen for next year.
What do you think it will be next year? And, more importantly, will you be brave enough to take part?

A few words from Mr Olden:
“Such a fantastic weekend with the most intuitive, hardworking, and trusting students. I said to the audience on the night that it is certainly a huge feat what we achieved and that is an absolute testament to the trust and bravery given by the students to themselves and each other.“
