This year, the Gordon’s girls U13A Hockey team have truly delivered a phenomenal season to be remembered, making leaps and bounds of improvement over the year of 2024.

The team have played twenty-four matches, and out of these have won an astonishing eighteen, and have also drawn one match and have suffered only five defeats. This adds up to make a 75% win rate! This is in comparison to their 2024 U12A season, in which they scored a 42% win rate. Moreover, they have also achieved an impressive goal difference of +42.

This season has also yielded some great achievements for the team to be proud of. Some of their achievements this season include winning the Lord Wandsworth 7s Tournament, and just narrowly missing out on winning the Surrey Plate Competition.

Here is some reflection of the season from team member Hattie:

  • How did it feel as a team to see such a positive difference from last season?

“It felt great having such a positive difference to last year when we were still getting to know each other and the game.”

    • How has the team developed since last year?

“We have all improved so much since last year and we are now much more used to working well as a team rather than just individuals on the pitch.”

    • What moment this year were you most proud of?

“I was really proud when we won a cup match and also a tournament in the same week. We all worked so hard and our teamwork and resilience really paid off”.

    • What are your goals for next season and beyond?

“I’ve only been playing for three seasons so I want to keep trying hard and developing as a player by putting what I learn in training into games and also having fun with the team along the way.”

Finally, a closing word on the season from coach Mr Dodd:

“Main highlights of the term were winning the LWC 7s and a Cup Game in the same week. The u13A Girls boast a winning rate of over 70% and this is all reward for the fantastic commitment and hard work they have shown to their teammates.

My favourite memory of this season was seeing how the team pulled together on and off the field, no player was better than the other and the mutual respect, support and appreciation of each team member was amazing to witness!

It was phenomenal to see the team grow in individual skill as well as teamwork and structure. I do believe the girls have a great future ahead in Gordon’s colours, keep celebrating the success as a TEAM.”
